Wish I'd had this about 6 years ago...

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Carbonite for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

It was a dark and stormy night.  No, honestly, it was.  That wasn't just some lead in to pique your interest.  Did it? Back to the story.
It was a dark and stormy night.  I was blissfully unaware, asleep in my bed.  I didn't discover the travesty until later the next day whereupon I attempted to log on to our home computer to finish a paper for a British Literature class at college.
The computer would not turn on.  We were informed not long after that the electrical box outside out house had been struck by lightning during the storm, which had zapped power to our house for a while.  Eventually, through come computer wizards over at the computer wizard store (You know the one.  The one where they can fix anything, no matter what?) that our computer was completely fried - with absolutely no way of recovering ANYTHING that had been there.  All they could do was reinstall everything and start us over from scratch.
I cried.  I'm not kidding.  I cried.  Why?  POOF!  The creative writing assignments I'd completed and were saving for my portfolio?  Gone.  All of the countless papers, assignments, creative projects I'd worked on were GONE.  Forever.  And that paper I needed to finish or British Literature?  Well, it was due the next day.  15 pages.  I had to start completely over.  What was worse than that?  There went thousands upon thousands of my photos - the trip I'd just taken to London and Amsterdam; GONE!  The road trip to Florida; GONE!  Visiting my cousin in Utah; GONE!  Those are things I will never get back; images that will live in my memory alone - and we all know that's not holding up so well...
If I had had Carbonite, none of this would have been an issue.  Carbonite is an online computer backup that works automatically and continually in the background whenever you are connected to the internet.  What's that mean for you?  It means that you don't have to worry about running backup programs for your files. It securely and automatically backs up files on a PC or Mac to one of Carbonite's highly secure, state of the art data centers.  Not only is it completely automatic, but also, there is no limit!

Carbonite Online Backup

It's totally simple, worry-free, and unlimited.  What's not to like?  Not only that, but once your files are backed up by Carbonite, you can access them anytime, anywhere from virtually any Internet connected device.  They offer free mobile apps so you can enjoy and share your files from your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android or Blackberry Smartphone.
Carbonite has been around since 2005 and they've successfully recovered over 7 billion files that might otherwise have been lost forever.  Like my photos from London - probably a once in a lifetime trip for me.  Or my Lit. paper that was due the next day (which I happened to get an A on, regardless, by the way...)

Carbonite would help me today with the bazillion of photos I use on this blog - projects, kid photos, photography contests... I'd be devastated if I lost them all.  Go check out Carbonite to learn more.  Mention the offer code BLOGAD and you'll get TWO MONTHS FREE with your purchase!  What's more, you can use the free trial for 15 days first!  (So that's like two and a half months free, really, if you think about it...)
While you do that, I'm going to take a moment to mourn and lament the loss of the only proof I had that I did, indeed, travel outside the US.
