(clearing throat) Hello? Hello? (blowing noises) Is this thing on? (tap, tap, tap). Um, hi.
Oh, man. Are you still there? Thank you for bearing with me. (I almost typed "baring" with me and then I had to ponder that. Not what I'm trying to convey, I think...)
I've made you a lot of promises that fell by the wayside, all because of this:
But what a night of Ferris Bueller, Cyndi Lauper, Metallica, groupies, grunge rockers, NKOTB lovers, high side ponies, scrunch socks, mullets, tight rolled pants, jellies, legwarmers and NEON! I do hope I'm not the only one who thinks that if ever a decade of fashion should be ERASED FROM HISTORY FOREVER - the 80's is it in SPADES. But, it sure is fun to pretend again. The sad part? So many of these styles seem so easy to come by today... I do NOT appreciate the return of 80's style. (more pictures, and better ones, to follow)
I am 30. It feels bizarre to type it out, mostly because I haven't contemplated it much. When you're a child, you look forward to your birthday all year long for the presents. When you're a teenager, you look forward to your birthday all year long because it's one year closer to dating/driving/graduating/being an adult. But when you're an adult, you completely forget about your birthday until you log on to facebook and realize you almost missed it.
I've come to the conclusion recently that whoever came up with "you're only as old as you feel" was one smart cookie. I've always thought the phrase meant that as long as you keep yourself in good health, you'll always feel young and be able to do fun things no matter how old you get. Am I the only one?? I've finally figured this adage out. What it REALLY means is that we are always, perpetually one specific age inside. Whatever age we identify with the most. Perhaps you had an awesome year when you were 18. Perhaps you loved your early 20's. Maybe you felt like you really grew up and figured yourself out early on - around 16. And we all know those people who have always been and will always be about 8 years old. In any case, whatever age that is to you personally, THAT is how old you feel. THAT is how old you "are." Not because you wish to be 20 again. But because you don't seem to feel any different than that person you were. Sure you've learned. You've grown and cried and laughed and dreamed. But intrinsically you are the same. Which is why, I suppose, I feel about 18 and not 30.
In any case, I've built things up enough, I believe, and I figure it's time to just come out with it. Phooey to the secrecy and big reveal and hoopla and bruhaha. I just wanted to tell you that we're opening up shop.
We meaning my sister, mom and I and shop meaning etsy.
This is our banner.
And this is where you can find us.
And there will now be a button over there on the sidebar so you can jump over to the shop all easy-like. It looks like this:
Right now, our inventory is a bit on the sparse side, but we will be adding things almost daily right at first, and everything added these first few weeks is included in the Grand Opening Sale!!
Oh, I didn't mention the sale? Well, how about a super ginormous whopping 40% off everything in the shop?!? Yeah. 40% off our already super low prices. Just for you. Because, well, because I want you to go look. And buy stuff. I admit it.
Use the coupon code:
1grandopening
The sale runs now through October 1st.
I realize that most of you probably already have etsy shops, and so maybe this wasn't such a huge announcement and why in the world was I so cryptic and did I have to build it up like that? Well, it's a pretty monstrous step for me. Something scary and new. And if you know me, you know I don't do scary and new.
Anyway, go check the shop! Here are some things you will see:
Tree of Life - Reproduction Print Alisa's original watercolor and ink piece in a color print. She's got others in there too, but I think this is my favorite. |
Comfy Cozy Wreath Recognize this? I made it last fall... I just realized that with all these wreaths I'm obsessed with making, I don't really have room to store them all... |
So, uh. Yeah. There you go. Hope that wasn't anticlimactic.
There's still that giveaway to look forward to...
ooo, ps. Do you have etsy tips?? Please, help a sista out.
*Be sure to check just below for all the fun parties I link to!
Woohoo! A shop! How exciting! Exclamation points!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy only Etsy tip would be you get out of it what you put into it. If you're really proactive and promote, promote, promote then you can expect to have a lot of sales. If you're more like me and kinda promote when you have time/when you feel like it you probably won't get as many.
And happy birthday!
