Take 15:Lollipop Flowers

For my finale yarn project, I am going to show you my lollipop flowers.  

You may think these aren't very difficult or finale-ish, and you'd be totally right.  But despite how easy they are to make, they are still one of my favorite yarn projects to decorate with.  Or maybe BECAUSE they are so easy to make... hmmm....

So you'll need:

yarn - green for the stem and whatever color you want your flowers to be.

Skewers or chopsticks

styrofoam balls (three different sizes or so)

Hot glue gun

Scissors

For the smaller sized balls, you'll want to shorten the stem - or skewer.  Use your scissors to make a notch, 

Then just use your hand to break it.

I shortened mine almost by half for the super small balls.

Now, dab some hot glue on the very end of the skewer and stick the end of a strand of green yarn on.

Now, you can wrap the stem up really tightly,

Or really loosely...

Or, my personal favorite, a combo of both:

Before you wind the yarn all down the skewer, lay it by the ball, to figure out how far the ball will stick onto the skewer.  You'll want to stop winding there.

Glue it in place.

Trim off the excess yarn.

Do this with all your skewers.  

Glue the end of a yarn strand to the styrofoam ball.

Start wrapping the yarn around the ball.

And keep on wrapping... 

until the ball is covered completely and the ball looks like a cute little yarn ball.

Hot glue the end, and trim the excess yarn.

Stick the pointy end of the skewer into the ball, up to where the yarn starts.

And you're finished!  Arrange them in cute little vases.

I did this as decorations for mini's last birthday.  This vase is now in mini's bedroom.
